Spain-based ACCIONA, a worldwide renewable energy and renewable infrastructure company, has signed an agreement with Tenaska for a massive portfolio of Greenfield solar PV and energy storage projects the U.S.
The development portfolio includes roughly three GW of utility-scale solar and one GW of co-located solar and solar electricity storage.
âThis provides ACCIONA with an opportunity to build upon our investments in wind energy and increase our commitment to renewable energy and sustainability in the United States through solar PV and energy storage technology,â said Rafael Esteban, CEO of ACCIONAâs Energy Division in North America. âWe will bring a significant portion of the portfolio into service between 2021 and 2023.â
Tenaska — via Tenaska Solar Ventures, the company’s solar creation services firm — will work with ACCIONA to finish development of their projects. Tenaska, located in Omaha, Neb., has generated roughly 10.5 GW of organic gas-fueled and renewable energy projects. Tenaska and its affiliates also have handled the purchase of about 10.75 GW of electricity resources. The existing Tenaska fleet comprises 11 organic gas-fueled and renewable energy plants that managed to create approximately 8 GW combined.
âWe are excited to join forces with ACCIONA on this renewables portfolio, pairing Tenaskaâs extensive expertise in development with their origination and construction capabilities,â said Steve Johnson, senior vice president and leader of Tenaska Solar Ventures.
ACCIONA envisions commissioning eight of those projects by the end of 2023, including around 1.5 GW of peak capacity (1.2 GW of rated capacity) to its North American renewable energy portfolio.
The arrangement with Tenaska promotes ACCIONA ‘s North American portfolio, which comprises roughly 1.25 GW of wind power set up and under structure. ACCIONA also owns and operates the 64 MW Nevada Solar One focused solar plant, situated outside of Las Vegas, NV.
Globally, ACCIONA operates nearly 10 GW of renewable power under its possession across 16 nations.
