June 9, 2022. Enel Green Power has begun the major construction phase of the Grizzly Bear Creek wind project in Alberta, Canada. The entire 152 MW Wind Farm is expected to be completed by the end of 2022.
The Wind Power project is Enel Green Power’s fourth project in Alberta, which, if completed, will bring the company’s total installed capacity in the province to over 360 MW.
Environment Friendly
“Enel Green Power has proudly powered the homes and businesses of tens of thousands of Albertans with clean renewable power, which helps make power more affordable and helps Canada meet its ambitious sustainability goals.” – Paolo Romanacci, Head of Enel Green Power in the US and Canada.
The project consists of 34 turbines and is expected to produce 528GWh of energy per year. That’s enough to avoid 343,000 tons of greenhouse gas emissions and generates electricity to power 73,000 Alberta homes per year.
Job Opportunities and economic benefits
“It’s exciting to see leading edge companies like Enel choosing to make new investments here in Alberta. Grizzly Bear Creek will create jobs and new economic opportunities while adding to our energy mix.”
Jackie Armstrong-Homeniuk,
Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA)
Fort Saskatchewan-Vegreville
The project will provide 250 jobs at the peak of construction and seven full-time, permanent jobs in operations and maintenance upon completion.
Once completed, the project will provide a long-term economic stimulus to the local economy, paying royalties to landowners and generating more than $80 million in local taxes over the 30-year life of the project.
