As the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority signs a new deal for a Hydro Electric Power Station in Dubai, they bring in various partners to aid with this project. The variety of renewable projects connect as they plan to incorporate their solar park. Still, there are various rising solar suppliers who have also aided with various projects in the UAE.
The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority have been making impressive progress for the clean energy goals of the UAE. Last week, we discussed the upcoming solar plans for the DEWA in comparison to the overall progress the UAE has made. Dubai is in the lead for the renewable energy industry, but they are not the only company in the UAE who is making impressive progress. The DEWA has signed another contract for a Hatta Hydro Electic Power Station in the Arabian Gulf. Strabag Dubai LLC, Strabag AG, and Andritz Hydro and Ozkar will all be working on this project together. This contract value is $391 million, and the energy output will be 250 MW to the east of Dubai City.
With a commission date of February 2024, they plan to use the water from the Hatta Dam to power the turbines in addition to solar energy from the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park (see here). This will give the project an 80% efficiency within 90 seconds of the response to energy demand. In the larger renewable picture, the solar park that is currently under development will then turn to aid other clean energy efforts in the future. This is an interesting way of connecting these efforts by the DEWA, and get the most energy out of their portfolio.
âDEWAâs strategy supports the UAE Centennial 2071, the UAE Vision 2021, and the Dubai Plan 2021 to ensure a sustainable, happy future and support the UAEâs aim to become first in everything.â
Mr. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer; MD & CEO of DEWA
As they bring in various local suppliers, it is critical to be educated on these solar supplies so heavily relied on by this largely successful company. Andritz Hydro and Ozkar is a worldwide leader of hydraulic power generation. They are very experienced in the R&D activities that contribute to flexible solutions in energy generation. With a worldwide presence, they are the ideal fit for any hydraulic development.
Strabag Dubai LLC and Strabag AG are subsidiaries of Strabag International. They focus on the development of civil engineering, building constructions, and transportation infrastructure. Their portfolio is diverse across all aspects of development, but this project shows the beginning of their ventures into clean energy. As part of their effort to contribute to the overall clean energy goals of the UAE, they have joined this project.
Other companies present in the UAE solar industry include Maysun Solar, Apex Power Concepts, and Dusol Industries LLC.
Maysun Solar specializes in solar modules and distributes worldwide from the UAE to Canada. They were also the first solar module manufacturer in Dubai, producing 200 MW per year. As a company, they focus on the quality of their items and contributing to overall renewable energy goals. By partnering with various companies such as Boviet and Tonsan, they are an ideal supplier for projects in the UAE, as well as a strong investment opportunity.
Apex Power Concepts was founded in 2003, based in the UAE and is Dubaiâs only PV solar manufacturer offering modules from 40Wp to 320Wp. They distribute international brands such as DuSuol, which ensures the quality of the product. DuSuol Industries LLC is also based in Dubai and has an excellent reputation and market in the UAE. Among the Apex Power partnerships are also MAXIMA batteries, Morningstar grid controllers, SHARP solar cells, and more industry leaders.
